Public Invited To Housing Listening Sessions

The Holdrege Development Corporation, in cooperation with the City of Holdrege, invites the residents of Holdrege to participate in a series of “Housing Listening Sessions” to discuss housing trends, projections and needs over the next five years.  The Housing Listening Sessions will be held Tuesday, October 2nd, at the following times and locations:
• 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Holdrege City Hall, located at 502 East Avenue;
• 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the First National Bank Community Room, located at 1220 N. Burlington Street; and
• 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Charlotte Erickson Community Room, located at the very east end of 12th Avenue.

The Housing Listening Sessions will provide important citizen input for the Holdrege, Nebraska, Community Housing Study with Strategies for Affordable Housing.  Guidance and direction for this Housing Study was provided through a Housing Steering Committee.  This Committee is assisted by the Planning Consulting Firm of Hanna:Keelan Associates, P.C., of Lincoln, Nebraska.  The City of Holdrege, Holdrege Development Corporation, and the Nebraska Investment Finance Authority (NIFA) combined resources to fund this project.

Residents of Holdrege and employees who work in the Community had the opportunity to complete three separate Housing Surveys,  including a “Housing Needs & Wants Survey,” a “Workforce Housing Needs Survey” and a “Continuum of Care for Elderly Persons Household Survey.”  Survey results, along with other pertinent community demographic information, will be presented at the Community Listening Sessions.

Housing Survey Winners Announced

The following names were drawn from residents who completed the Housing Surveys and will each be awarded $100 in Holdrege Chamber Bucks.  Paula Keffeler was the selected winner for the Housing Needs & Wants Survey, Tom Harold was the selected winner for the Workforce Housing Needs Survey, and Madeline Pool was selected as the winner for the Continuum of Care for Elderly Persons Household Survey.
